Tixall Gatehouse was built c.1580. Old Tixall Hall was built c.1555 by Sir Edward Aston. New Tixall Hall
was built c.1780 by Hon Thomas Clifford. Tixall Hall was finally demolished in 1927 but the Gatehouse remained and
was acquired by the Landmark Trust in 1968. The architect used by the LT was Lawrence Bond of Bond and Read.
The builder was Sandy and Co of Stafford. The masons were Walker & Son. The work was completed in 1977.

Approach,
It is possible to park two cars within the fenced area. Entry is via the doorway on the left of the picture to a spiral staircase.

Columns are doric on the ground floor, ionic on the first and corinthian on the second.

The Kitchen,
has an electric cooker and fridge. Lighting is very good.

The Sitting Room,
is the main downstairs living space. There is no fireplace.

The Bedrooms,
twin and double are both spacious with good views. There are also two single bedrooms in the 2nd
floor turrets. In total the property sleeps six people.

The Bathroom from the double bedroom,
is one of three bathrooms, each in a turret. Two are en-suite to the double and twin rooms on the first floor. The other is on the second floor and shared by the two single rooms. All have toilet, sink and bath.

The 2nd floor,
provides access to the two single turret rooms and a bathroom. There is table tennis for the energetic.

The roof,
provides great views. There are deck chairs if you get good weather.
