Minton, Henry,

Minton Ware, ceramic products of Mintons Ltd., founded in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, by Thomas Minton and partners in 1793.

Minton is credited with the design of willow ware a decade earlier, when he was an apprentice. The willow-ware pattern, with a stylized Chinese scene generally printed in blue, soon became a popular transfer-printed design for tableware.

During the 19th century, Mintons became one of the premier British manufacturers of ceramics. Under the leadership of Thomas Minton's son Herbert, the firm added decorative porcelain (often in the Sèvres style), ornamental parian figures, and colorful maiolica pieces to its prolific output. In the 20th century, Mintons continues to produce high-quality porcelain tableware.
